Statement from ACI founder Steve Moore

It has been quite a start to 2020 across our sector, with significant regulatory developments in both the medicinal cannabis and the CBD wellness space.

The CMC/ACI has been instrumental in shaping the lifting of import restrictions for medicinal cannabis and the new Food Standards Agency CBD regulations effective from 31 March 2021. There is of course still much to do.

However, right now we all have to adapt to a new world and the unprecedented challenge a global pandemic presents us all.

In the short term, regrettably, both our Clinical and Scientific Research Conference in April and next week’s Global CBD Summit and all associated events have been postponed. We hope to reconvene both later this year. With effect from next Monday 16 March both the CMC and the ACI will be moving to remote working. We are currently reviewing all the options to ensure that we can continue to operate at an optimal level through this period of social distancing. We will update you next week on our plans for upcoming video conferencing events and new policy announcements.

Rest assured there will be no let up on our momentum. I know the coming months are going to be uniquely testing for all of us both personally and professionally. As we proceed we have a new heightened joint responsibility to change our behaviours and our work patterns to safeguard families, neighbours, colleagues and our communities. Do take all necessary precautions, stay safe and keep in touch.
