6 CBD brands that should be on your radar in 2022

A round-up of some of the leading CBD brands on the market in the UK, following the British CBD industry’s most successful year yet.

Sales of CBD products for 2021 were expected at £690m, up from £314m since 2019 and almost a third higher than previous projections, according to the Greenshoots Report published by the Association for the Cannabinoid Industry.

The UK is now the world’s second largest consumer cannabinoids market after the US and to go a step further, the British consumer now spends more on cannabis extracts than vitamins B and C combined.

Reacting to the demand for CBD, the Food Standards Agency has become the first regulator in the world to start the process of approving CBD products for legal sale and the Home Office ran a consultation process to consider safe and tolerable THC limits in CBD products.

All of these developments made 2021 a pivotal year for CBD in the UK. Here, we round-up six brands rising to the challenges of regulation and consumer demand in 2022.

Canabidol

Available in pharmacies across the UK, Canabidol’s parent company British Cannabis specifically bred cannabis plants containing high potency CBD for this unique formulation. Boasting an exclusive contract with the largest producers of phytocannabinoid-rich cannabis in the world, the company enforces strict organic farming practices,  which they control from cultivation to harvesting.

Greenstem CBD

Based in Guildford, Surrey, Greenstem is a British CBD brand which was acquired by Avida Global in late 2021.  The range of CBD vapes, tinctures, bath and skincare products are available to buy on Amazon and is also stocked in Boots and other high street retailers.

Herbotany Health

This Hertfordshire-based CBD brand is on a mission to make the wellness sector more sustainable. Herbotany Health  co-founders Danny and Paul ensure every part of their process is as eco-friendly as possible, from the hemp farm where they use sustainable manufacturing practices to their organic CBD extract. They also utilise packaging made from recycled pulp and choose glass over plastic.

Naturecan

Naturecan is a global wellness brand which hails from Stockport with a firm focus on offering safe, effective and premium hemp-derived CBD products, as well as additional supplements such as vitamins and minerals. The company, founded in 2019 by Paul Finnegan and former Myprotein CEO Andy Duckworth, has partnered with Liverpool John Moores University on ground-breaking research into CBD in sport.

Dragonfly

This popular British brand makes all natural CBD products, extracting the CBD element from their own organically grown hemp plants. Dragonfly Biosciences employs a highly skilled team of expert farmers and scientists to develop CBD from seed-to-shelf. Former Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott is on board as a brand ambassador.

Columbia Care Platinum

In 2021, this US-based international cannabis company launched a CBD-infused wellness range for the UK market, comprised of high grade broad spectrum oils and soft gel capsules. The collection is backed by the research and development expertise of the well-known medical cannabis company, Columbia Care.
